| The Group's principal activity is to manufacture, market and distribute vitamins, minerals, herbs, sports nutrition products, diet aids and other nutritional supplements. The Group operates in four segments: Wholesale segment comprises of divisions targeting market groups such as wholesalers, distributors, chains, pharmacies, health food stores, bulk and international customers. The European Retail segment operates through 604 Company-owned stores and 22 franchised stores sells proprietary brand and third-party products. The North American Retail segment with 457 stores in the United States and Canada sells proprietary brand and third-party products. The Direct Response/Puritan's Pride segment offers nutritional supplement through mail order catalog and Internet. It operates in the United States, the United Kingdom, Holland, Ireland, Canada and other foreign countries. On 02-Oct-2006, the Group acquired Zila Nutraceutical Inc. |
