The Group's principal activity is the retail distribution of food products. It also distributes pharmaceutical products and is the franchisor of the Brunet drugstores and Clini-Plus pharmacies. The Group has a network of supermarkets, discount stores and drugstores in Quebec and Ontario. As of 27-Sep-2008, the Group operated 558 food stores and 268 drugstores. It operates 380 supermarkets under the banners Metro, Metro Plus, A&P, Dominion and Loeb. It also operates 178 discount stores under the Super C and Food Basics banners. It also acts as franchisor and distributor for the 190 franchised Brunet and Clini Plus drugstores, owned by independent pharmacists. The Group operates 78 drugstores under the banners Pharmacy and Drug Basics.
