The Group's principal activity is to produce and market methanol. Methanol is produced from natural gas and is used to produce formaldehyde, acetic acid and a variety of other chemical intermediates. These derivatives are used in the manufacture of products found in our everyday lives, including building materials, foams, resins and plastics. Methanol is also used to make MTBE (methyl tertiary butly ether), an additive used in cleaner-burning gasoline. The Group's operations are carried out in Chile, New Zealand, Canada and the United States.
