| The Group's principal activity is to produce aggregates for the construction industry including infrastructure, commercial, agricultural and residential. It operates in two segments: Construction aggregates: Processes and sells granite, limestone, sand, gravel and other related products. These are used in all sectors of public infrastructure, commercial and residential construction industries. Specialty Products: Manufactures and markets dolomitic lime for steel industry and magnesia-based heat-resistant refractories products which cater to industrial, agricultural and environmental applications. In 2008, the Group shipped from a network of 288 quarries, distribution facilities and plants to customers in 29 states, Canada, the Bahamas and the Caribbean Islands. Texas, North Carolina, Georgia, Iowa and Florida account for 60% of total 2008 net sales. |
