The Meat products segment includes meat and meat-related businesses comprising the fresh pork, prepared meats, poultry and international food trading operations. The bakery products of the Group include fresh and frozen par-baked bakery products and fresh pasta. The Group exports its products to the United States, Japan, Hong Kong, China, Germany, New York and other European countries. The Agribusiness segment includes pet food business, poultry growing and hatching operations. The Group acquired Aliments Martel Inc. on 29-Jan-2008, La Fornaia Ltd. on 17-Aug-2007 and Patisserie Chevalier Inc. on 26-Feb-2007. It also sold all of its wholly-owned investments in Alberta in Jan 2008, its animal nutrition business in July 2007 and its European seafood and convenience businesses in Germany in the first quarter of 2007. |
