| The Group's principal activity is to manufacture and sell building materials. The Group operates under three major segments, Cement, Aggregates & Concrete & Gypsum. Under Cement, the Group offers a wide range of cement and hydraulic binders for the construction industry. The Group offers basic portland & masonry cements & a variety of other blended specialty cements. Under Aggregates & Concrete, the Group offers construction aggregates, ready mix concrete & other concrete products. Under Gypsum, the Group offers gypsum blocks & gypsum products for construction & interior decoration such as plasterboards. The Group operates mainly in Europe, the United Kingdom & the United States. In 2007, the Group acquired Shuangma Investment Company, Feltes Sand & Gravel Company, Heritage Division of H.B. Mellot Inc & Heracles General Cement Company. In January, 2008, the Group also acquired Orascom Cement. |
