The Group's principal activity is to provide communications test and measurement solutions and optical products for telecommunications service providers, cable operators and network equipment manufacturers. It also provides optical solutions for biomedical and environmental instrumentation, semiconductor processing, aerospace and defense, brand authentication, display systems and custom color product differentiation applications. The Group operates through three segments: Communications Test and Measurement, enable the design, deployment, and maintenance of communication equipment and networks; Communications and Commercial Optical Products, provides optical communications products used by network equipment manufacturers and Advanced Optical Technologies, leverages its core technology strengths of optics and materials science to manage light and color effects. In July 2009, the Group acquired Network Tools business of Finisar Corporation.
