The Group's principal activities are to provide long-term active ownership and active investment for shareholders. The Group operations are conducted in three main business areas: Core Investments, Operating Investments and Private Equity Investments. Core Investments are global, listed companies with strong positions in their markets. Operating Investments invest in unlisted medium-sized to large companies in industries with a stable growth. The investments generally consist of holdings in which the Group has a controlling interest or minority position with significant influence. Private Equity Investments invest in unlisted small and medium-sized companies in the US, Northern Europe and Asia. This segment focuses on investments in the healthcare, IT and technology sector. The Group operates globally. In 2008, the Group acquired Lindorff.
