| The Group's principal activity is providing a range of financial products and services. It operates primarily in the United Kingdom, South Africa and Australia. It has five divisions, Private Client Activities, Treasury & Specialised Finance, Investment Banking, Asset Management and Property Activities. Private Client Activities comprises private banking, private client portfolio management and stockbroking. Treasury and Specialised Finance comprises financial market activities and banking activities. Investment Banking comprises corporate finance, institutional research, sales and trading, and private equity and direct investments. Asset Management comprises asset management and assurance. Property Activities comprises asset management, and trading and development activities. The Group also provides certain group-wide integrating functions such as risk management and information technology. On 06-May-2005, the Group disposed of Carr Sheppards Crosthwaite Ltd. |
