The Group's principal activities are the design, research, development, manufacture and marketing of semiconductors and complete systems solutions used in a variety of micro electrical applications. The Group's activities are carried out through two divisions. The Automotive, industrial and multimarket segment designs, develops, manufactures and markets semiconductors and complete system solutions for use in automotive, industrial and security applications,and applications with customer specific product requirements. The Communication segment designs, develops, manufactures and markets a wide range of ICs, other semiconductors and complete system solutions for wireline and wireless communication applications. Memory products segment is operated by its subsidiary Qimonda AG.
