| The Group's principal activity is to offer traditional deposit products, residential real estate mortgage loans and consumer loans. The Group purchases mortgages, mortgage-backed securities, securities issued by the U.S. government and agencies and other investments. The Group serves as the holding company of its only subsidiary, Hudson City Savings Bank. As of 31-Dec-2007, it operated through 111 branches in the New York metropolitan area, 91 branches located in the State of New Jersey, nine branch offices in Westchester County, seven branch offices in Suffolk County, one branch office each in Putnam and Rockland Counties, four branch offices in Richmond County and six branch offices in Fairfield County. |
