The Group's principal activities are to own, operate, acquire, rehabilitates and develop residential apartment communities in Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Southeast Florida regions of the United States. The Group conducts its business through Home Properties of New York LP. The Group has elected to be taxed as a (REIT) under the Internal Revenue Code of 1986. The Group operating segments are Core and Non-core properties. On 31-Dec-2008, the Group operated 112 apartment communities with 38,280 apartments.
