| The Group's principal activity is to engage in the retail food business. Its business falls into four categories namely, Grocery, which includes grocery, frozen foods, dairy, general merchandise/health and beauty aids, liquor and pharmacy; Meat, which includes meat, deli, bakery and seafood; Produce, which includes produce and floral; and Other, which includes sales from an information technology services agreement with Metro Inc. The Group operates under the trade names A&P(R), Super Fresh(R); Waldbaum'sTM, Super Foodmart, Food Basics(R), The Food Emporium(R), Best Cellars(R), and Pathmark. In support to its retail operations, the Group also sells other private label products under other brand names, which include America's Choice(R), Master Choice(R), & Health Pride(R). It operated 436 retail stores averaging approximately 42,200 sq ft per store. The Group operates operates United States. |
