| The Group's principal activity is to publish technical manuals, weekly newspaper, supplements and magazines. It operates in two segments: Newspaper and Trade and Business and Professional. The Group publishes comprehensive technical manuals that provide businesses with necessary legal, audit and compliance information concerning environmental law, occupational health & safety, transportation, training, and business law. The manuals are sold in both print and electronic format. The Group publishes The Western Producer, the weekly agricultural newspaper and several related supplements including buyer's guides, seed guides, computer guides and agricultural show guides. It also publishes a number of targeted farm business magazines, periodicals and regional newspapers. During 2006, the Group acquired Stressgen Biotechnologies Corporation, GVIC Communications Inc, Community Publishers Ltd. |
