The Group's principal activity as a diversified electric utility is to invest primarily in regulated electric distribution utilities in Canada and the Caribbean region. It also owns and operates non-regulated generation assets and commercial real estate and hotels. Fortis Properties owns 20 hotels, offering 3,800 hotel rooms and approximately 2.8 million square feet of commercial real estate. The Group's Properties owns and operates hotels in 8 provinces in Canada and commercial real estate in Atlantic Canada. In November 2008, the Group acquired Hotel Newfoundland.
