The Group's principal activity is to provide commercial, retail banking, investment advisory and electronic payment processing services in the United States. The Group operates through five segments: Commercial Banking offers banking, cash management and financial services to business, government and professional customers. Branch Banking segment accepts deposit and offers consumer loans and leases. Investment Advisory Services segment provides investment alternatives for individuals, companies and not-for-profit organizations. Processing Solutions segment provides electronic funds transfer services, merchant transaction processing. Consumer Lending segment provides mortgage & home equity lending & other activity like educational loan & mortgage brokers. As on 31-Dec-2008, the Group operates through 18 affiliates with 1,307 full-service banking centers located throughout the United States. On 06-Jun-2008, the Group acquired First Charter.
