| The Group's principal activities are to own, operate, manage, acquire, develop and redevelop real estate properties. The Group is elected to be taxed as a Real Estate Investment Trust, as defined under the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended. The majority of the Group's real estate consists of apartment communities. The Group operates in three geographical regions: Southern California, Northern California and Seattle Metro. The Group also owns properties in Portland, Oregon, Houston and Texas. On 31-Dec-2007, the Group has owned or held an interest in 134 apartment communities, aggregating 27,489 units, located predominantly along the West Coast. |
