East Japan Railway Company is a Japan-based company mainly engaged in the railway business. It has four business segments. The Transportation segment operates railway routes, including the bullet train lines and the conventional railway lines mainly in the Kanto area and the Tohoku area. The Station Space Utilization segment establishes commercial space in the railway stations and operates restaurants, retail stores, cafes and convenience stores. The Shopping and Office segment is engaged in the operation of shopping centers and the leasing of office buildings located in the railway stations and surrounding areas. The Others segment is engaged in businesses related to hotels, advertising agency, travel operations, wholesale, truck delivery, credit cards, information processing, as well as cleaning and maintenance. On April 2, 2012, the Company acquired vehicles manufacturing businesses from Tokyu car corporation.
