The Group's principal activity is to operate in three segments: Electric Utility, Non-Utility and Gas Utility. Electric Utility Segment includes power generation and electric distribution services to residential, commercial and industrial customers throughout southeastern Michigan. Non-Utility operations include energy related businesses such as coal transportation and marketing, and gas storage and transportation, natural gas exploration and production, power and industrial projects, energy marketing and trading and synthetic fuel. Gas Utility segment include purchase, storage, transmission and distribution and sale of natural gas customers throughout Michigan. The Group operates through its subsidiaries Detroit Edison Company, Michigan Consolidated Gas Company Other non-utility subsidiaries. It operates solely in the United States.
