| The Group's principal activity is to provide satellite delivered digital television. The Group operates in two business segments: Dish Network and Echostar Technologies Corporation. The Dish Network segment provides direct broadcast satellite subscription television services to its subscribers. The Group owns eight DBS satellites in orbit that enables to provide over 2500 video and audio channels, together with limited data services and high definition interactive TV services. The Echostar Technologies Corporation segment designs, develops, distributes and sells Echostar receiver systems that include DBS set-top boxes, antennae and other digital equipment for the Dish Network. The Group also designs, develops and distributes Direct-To- Home equipment for international satellite service providers. As of 31-Dec-2007, the Group had 13.780 million subscribers to direct broadcast satellite services. |
