| The Group's principal activity is to produce rock, or highway deicing, salt in North America and the United Kingdom. It operates in two segments: Salt and Specialty Fertilizer. The Salt segment consists of mining, producing, processing and distribution of rock, evaporated and solar salt in North America and Europe. Salt is used in a variety of applications like deicer for highway and consumer use, paper bleaching, water treatment, as a flavor enhancer and preservative in food and as a nutrient in animal feeds. The Specialty Fertilizer provides essential potassium to high-value, chloride-sensitive crops, such as vegetables, fruits, tea, tobacco and turf grass. The markets of the Group include the United States, Canada and United Kingdom. |
