The Group's principal activity is producing and marketing iron ore pellets. The Group operates through three segments. The North American Iron Ore segment is comprised of our six iron ore mining operations in Michigan, Minnesota and Eastern Canada. The North American Coal segment supplied metallurgical coal in North America. The Asia-Pacific Iron Ore segment is comprised of Portman, an Australian iron ore mining company and it includes Koolyanobbing mine and Cockatoo Island. Portman serves the Asian iron ore markets with direct-shipping fines and lump ore. The Group customers include ArcelorMittal USA, Algoma, Severstal, U.S. Steel Canada. On June 2008, it acquired 4.8 percent interest in Portman. It also acquired the remaining 30 percent interest in United Taconite. The group operates in United States, China, Canada, Japan and other countries.
