The Group's principal activities are natural gas transmission, storage and processing, power production and energy services. The Group is a holding company operating through two subsidiaries, Consumers and Enterprises. The Group operates in three segments: Electric Utility, Gas Utility and Enterprises. The Electric Utility segment includes the generation, purchase, distribution and sale of electricity in the state of Michigan. The Gas Utility segment purchases, transports, stores, distributes and sells natural gas. The Enterprises segment, through various subsidiaries, affiliates and equity investments, operates domestic and international diversified energy businesses including independent power production, natural gas transmission, storage and processing and energy services in the United States and certain international markets.
