Bank of the Philippine Islands is a commercial bank. It operating segments include consumer banking, corporate banking and investment banking. The Bank has two major categories for products and services. The first category covers its deposit taking and lending/investment activities. Revenue from this category is collectively termed as net interest income. The second category covers services other than and auxiliary to the core deposit taking, lending, and investing business and from which it derives commissions, service charges and fees from turnover volume. These include investment banking and corporate finance fees, asset management and trust fees, foreign exchange, securities distribution fees, securities trading gains, credit card membership fees, rental of bank assets, income from insurance subsidiaries and service charges/commissions earned on international trade transactions, drafts, fund transfers, various deposit related services.
