The Group's principal activity is developing and manufacturing of vitro diagnostic products for use in the laboratory. It is organised in three divisions: Direct Distribution sells both in-house products and third party products. Point-of-Care comprises all activities associated with tests performed at the point of consultation with healthcare professionals. Laboratory concentrates on in vitro diagnostics tests for use in the clinical laboratory. Key clinical areas are cardiovascular disease, cerebrovascular disease and dementia, rheumatoid arthritis, alcohol-related disease, diabetes, infectious diseases and vitamin B12 deficiency. The Group operates in the United Kingdom and the Nordic Region. On 01-Jan-2008, the Group acquired the Point-of-Care business and inventories, and certain other assets of Nycomed Pharma AG.
