The Group's principal activity is to generate, transmit and distribute energy and other energy related businesses. It operates in two segments: Avista Utilities and Advantage IQ and Other segment. The Avista Utilities segment generates, transmits and distributes electricity and distributes natural gas. It also engages in wholesale purchases and sales of electric capacity and energy. The Advantage IQ provides utility bill processing, payment and information services. The Other Segment is responsible for investing in business opportunities which includes sheet metal fabrication, venture fund investments and real estate investments. As of 2-Jul-2008, it acquired Cadence Network.
