| The Group's principal activities are the management of department stores, mail order services, information and finance services and real estate services. The Group operates in five business segments: Karstadt, Mail Order Services, Thomas Cook, Services and Real Estate. Karstadt segment includes management of department stores and sports stores. The Departmental stores operate under the brand name Karstadt and KaDeWe, Herite, Wertheim and Alsterhaus. The Mail order services segment includes universal and special mail order services. Thomas Cook offers tourism services. The Services segment include information and finance services, customer-card services, back-end services and travel services. The Real estate segment comprises department stores in German inner city areas as well as land, administrative and storage buildings. The Group operates in Germany, Western Europe and Eastern Europe. In 2007, th Group acquired 100% of Thomas Cook. |
