The Group's principal activity is to provide innovative and distinctive educational programs and services. It operates in four segments: University of Phoenix segment offers educational services to undergraduate and graduate levels through its online education delivery system and on the ground at its campuses and learning centers worldwide. Apollo Group segment is a joint venture with The Carlyle Group to pursue investments in the international education services industry. Insight Schools offers curriculum and administrative services to public schools to operate full-time online high school programs serving students in 10 states. The Other Schools segment includes Western International University, Institute for Professional Development and The College for Financial Planning Institutes Corporation and Meritus University. In fiscal 2008, the Group acquired Universidad de Artes, Ciencias y Comunicacion, Universidad Latinoamericana SC and Aptimus Inc.
