| The Group's principal activity is to provide financial planning and services to its clients asset accumulation, income management and protection needs. As of 31-Dec-2007, the Group had over 2.8 million individual, business and institutional clients and a network of over 11,800 financial advisors and registered representatives. The Group primarily operates through the following segments: Asset Accumulation and Income, Protection and Corporate and Other. The asset accumulation and income business offers mutual funds, annuities and other asset accumulation and income management products and services to retail clients. The protection segment offers various life insurance, disability income and long-term care insurance products through advisor network. Corporate and other segment consists of income derived from corporate level assets and unallocated corporate expenses, as well as the results of subsidiary, Security American Financial Corporation. |
