The Group's principal activity is to provide financial planning and services to its client's asset accumulation, income management and protection needs. As of 31-Dec-2008, it had a network of more than 12,400 financial advisors and registered representatives. It operates in five segments: Advice & Wealth Management segment provides financial planning and advice. Asset Management segment provides investment advice and investment products to retail and institutional clients. Annuities segment provides RiverSource Life variable and fixed annuity products. Protection segment provides a variety of protection products to address the protection and risk management needs of our retail clients. Corporate & Other segment realizes net investment income on corporate level assets.
