| The Group's principal activities are generating, transmitting and distributing electric power. The activities are conducted through its public utility subsidiaries, whose service areas cover portions of the states of Arkansas, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia. The service territory covers 197,500 square miles with more than 39,000 circuit miles of transmission lines and more than 186,000 miles of distribution lines. The generating and transmission facilities of all the subsidiaries are physically interconnected and their operations are coordinated as a single electric utility system. Transmission networks are interconnected with extensive distribution facility in the territories served. |
