The Group's principal activity is providing barge transportation and related services in the United States. It also manufactures barges, towboats and other vessels. As of 31-Dec-2008, it operates 2,645 barges; its barges operated included 1,873 covered dry cargo barges, 381 open dry cargo barges and 388 liquid tank barges, which are used to transport liquid cargoes. It transports cargo, coal, steel and other bulk commodities through dry cargo barges and also transports chemicals, petroleum, edible oils and other liquid commodities through its tank barges. The Group operates in North and South America. The Group acquired Summit Contracting on April 2008.
