The Group's principal activity is to own and operate electric generation facilities and deliver electric services to customers in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland and Virginia. The operations are carried out through two segments: Delivery and Services and Generation and Marketing. The Delivery and Services division comprises of the regulated electric operations and includes other unregulated operations not related to power and its transmission and distribution. It also invests in and develops fiber and data services and energy-related projects. The Generation and Marketing segment comprises of power generation, which are generally unregulated. It also markets and trades electricity, oil, coal and other energy-related commodities using primarily over-the-counter and exchange-traded contracts.
