| The Group's principal activity is the operation of owned and chartered shipping vessels. The Group operates in five segments: Container Shipping and Related Services, Tankers, Offshore and Other Shipping, Oil and Gas Activities, Retail and Shipyard and Other Industrial Companies. Container Shipping and Related Services includes global container services, agency activity, logistics activity and terminal activity. Tankers, Offshore and Other Shipping comprises of tanker shipping with crude carriers, product carriers and gas carriers, car carriers, supply vessel activities and drilling activities. Oil and Gas Activities comprises of exploration and production of oil and gas. Retail comprises of supermarkets and hypermarkets. Shipyards and Other Industrial Companies includes shipyards, aviation activities within scheduled flights and charter service and IT activity and development. The Group operates worldwide. The Group acquired Adsteam Marine Ltd in 2007. |
