The Group's principal activities are to acquire, develop and operate industrial properties in key distribution markets throughout North America, Europe and Asia. The Group operates as a real estate investment trust under Sections 856 through 860 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986. The Group also manages industrial buildings, warehouses and retail centers. As on 31-Dec-2008, the Group owned and managed 1,116 industrial buildings in 49 markets throughout the United States and in Canada, China, Belgium, France, Germany, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Singapore and the United Kingdom.. The Group's trademarks includes AMB(R) and High Throughput Distribution(R) (HTD (R)).
